The Festival Lyrique-en-mer, founded in 1998 by the American bass-baritone Richard Cowan, has provided support and training for young singers through its Young Artists program for 20 years.

Belle-Ile, known for its beautiful natural landscapes, has been a source of inspiration for artists for centuries, and the Festival is now firmly anchored in the cultural life of the island.

An intensive, varied and rewarding performance program helps ensure this training. It is led by its artistic director, conductor Philip Walsh and accompanied by a team of internationally renowned directors, singers and musicians. Over the past years, young artists have acquired essential experience by integrating the choir of the proposed operas, in concerts of complete works sung with the Festival choir, as well as by presenting their own program of recitals. The opportunity to rub shoulders with experienced artists, all of whom are pursuing fine careers in prestigious venues, has proven invaluable for our young artists. Similarly, the masterclasses have become one of the most important moments of the season, both for exchanges and teaching and for the professional advice provided there.

Please provide a curriculum vitae, a video presenting two pieces of work in different styles as well as a short letter explaining what you hope to gain from the programme and what contribution your participation can make to the festival.

Your application will be examined by our artistic director and you will receive a reply.
